What changed?

How to complete LPG biometric authentication

The government lists three main routes. First, the delivery person can complete authentication at the time of cylinder delivery using the oil marketing company application. Second, a consumer can visit the LPG distributor’s showroom. Third, consumers can use the official mobile app for their provider: IndianOil ONE for Indane, HelloBPCL for Bharatgas, or HP PAY for HP Gas.

Consumers should use official OMC channels rather than links received in unsolicited messages. Aadhaar and subsidy-related deadlines are common themes for phishing and impersonation attempts.

Who needs to act before 1 October?

The action group is the roughly 10.1% of active domestic LPG consumers who had not completed BAA as of the government’s September 19 update. If you are unsure of your status, verify it through your distributor or the official app rather than assuming an earlier KYC exercise automatically satisfies the current biometric requirement.

Who does not need to do anything?

The government reported compensation of ₹30,000 crore to public-sector oil marketing companies across FY2025-26 and FY2026-27, while accumulated under-recoveries on domestic LPG exceeded ₹62,000 crore as of 31 August 2026.

Those figures explain the policy rationale but do not mean an individual household’s future subsidy is fixed. LPG pricing and subsidy policy can change.

Household checklist before 1 October

Check whether BAA is already complete. Use your distributor or official OMC app.
If pending, authenticate early. Do not wait until an urgent refill is needed.
Use an official channel. Avoid unknown links asking for Aadhaar, OTPs, card details or UPI PINs.
Keep your registered mobile number accessible. It can simplify app and account verification.
If you cannot or do not wish to authenticate, register that choice through the OMC’s web portal, app, WhatsApp chatbot, IVRS or other official channel.
Budget for the difference. If subsidy eligibility changes, household fuel spending can rise even though LPG supply continues.

What this does not change

This announcement is about domestic LPG authentication and subsidy-linked refill pricing. It does not change home-loan interest rates, bank KYC rules or UPI payment pricing. Consumers should also avoid confusing LPG e-KYC/BAA with unrelated Aadhaar-update messages.
